RideCab is a WordPress taxi booking plugin built on WooCommerce. It sells for a one-time $79 with lifetime updates, needs WooCommerce and a Google Maps API key, and prices rides per km, per hour, by tier or by zone.
Pricing & licence
How much does RideCab cost?
RideCab costs $79, paid once, for one website. The price includes every feature and lifetime updates — there is no subscription, no renewal and no paid extension. Priority support is an optional one-time add-on of $24, and new purchases are covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Is there a free version of RideCab?
No, RideCab has no free version or free trial licence. Instead, you can test the real booking form on the live demo, read the full documentation before buying, and request a refund within 14 days of purchase if the plugin does not fit your business.
How many websites can I use one licence on?
One RideCab licence activates one website. Buy several copies and your single licence key activates that many domains. Staging sites also use a slot, and to move RideCab to a new domain you deactivate it on the old site first in RideCab → License; reinstalling on the same domain never uses a second slot.
What is the RideCab refund policy?
RideCab offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on new purchases. Refunds are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, and your licence key is deactivated once the refund is approved. Read the full refund policy for details.
Installation & setup
How do I install and set up RideCab?
Install and set up RideCab in five steps:
- Upload ridecab.zip in Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and activate it.
- Enter your licence key in RideCab → License.
- Add your Google Maps API keys in RideCab → Settings → Maps.
- Create a vehicle with its pricing type and rates in RideCab → Vehicles.
- Paste the shortcode [ridecab_booking_form] on any page.
RideCab needs PHP 7.4+, WordPress 5.8+ and WooCommerce 7.0+.
Do I need a Google Maps API key for RideCab?
Yes, RideCab needs Google Maps API keys for address autocomplete, route distance and drawing zones. Create two keys in Google Cloud Console: a browser key with the Maps JavaScript, Places, Geocoding and Directions APIs, and a server key with the Distance Matrix and Geocoding APIs. Without the Directions API, distances and fares come out too low.
Does RideCab work with my theme and Elementor?
Yes, RideCab works with any WordPress theme and page builder because the booking form is a shortcode with its own styles. Add [ridecab_booking_form] in a Gutenberg Shortcode block or an Elementor Shortcode widget. If your theme loads Google Maps itself, turn off the theme map so Google Maps loads only once.
Payments & WooCommerce
Does RideCab require WooCommerce, and which payments are supported?
Yes, RideCab requires WooCommerce 7.0 or later and is HPOS compatible. Every ride goes through WooCommerce checkout, so any WooCommerce payment gateway works automatically: Stripe, PayPal, SumUp, bank transfer or cash on delivery. The fare is recalculated on the server at checkout, so customers cannot change the price.
Can I review a booking before taking payment?
Yes. Use a WooCommerce gateway that takes no money — for example Cheque renamed “Booking request” — so new orders land On Hold. Review the ride, switch the order to Pending payment, then use Order actions → Send order details to customer to email a payment link. Set the default booking status to Pending in RideCab → Settings → General.
Fares, zones & Google Maps
How does RideCab calculate taxi fares?
RideCab calculates each fare on the server with one of four pricing engines, chosen per vehicle:
- Per km: base fare + (distance × rate per km) + (minutes × rate per minute).
- Per hour: base fare + (driving hours × hourly rate).
- Tiered distance: a different rate or flat price per distance band.
- Tiered hourly: a different hourly rate per band of booked hours.
Minimum fares, passenger and luggage extras, surcharges and zone rules are then applied.
Can I set fixed prices for airports and zones?
Yes. RideCab geofence rules let you draw a polygon around an airport, station or district on Google Maps and set a fixed fare for trips from, to or between zones. A fixed-fare rule replaces the distance-based price entirely, can apply one way or both ways, and can target specific vehicles. You can also add flat or percentage zone surcharges.
Does RideCab support surge pricing?
Yes. RideCab surge pricing rules add a flat amount, a percentage or a replacement per-km rate during chosen hours, weekdays or date ranges — for example a night rate from 22:00 to 06:00 or a holiday tariff. Rules can target specific vehicles and are applied by priority.
Drivers, dispatch & use cases
How does driver management work — is there a driver app?
RideCab manages drivers as WordPress users with a licence number, phone, commission rate and calendar colour; you assign them to bookings and see every ride on a colour-coded dispatch calendar. There is no driver app: each driver connects their own Google Calendar, so assigned rides appear on their phone automatically.
Can I use RideCab for limo, chauffeur and airport transfer businesses?
Yes. RideCab fits limo, chauffeur and airport transfer businesses: per-hour and tiered-hourly pricing for hourly hire, fixed zone fares for airports, return trips with a discount, and passenger and luggage limits per vehicle. See the use cases for taxi, VTC, limo, hotel and tour operator setups.
Support & updates
What support and updates come with RideCab?
Every RideCab purchase includes lifetime updates, delivered in your WordPress dashboard while your licence is active. Priority support is an optional one-time add-on of $24 for faster answers. Questions about installation, configuration or bugs go to ridecab@canopuswebagency.com, and the documentation covers every setting and common fixes.
